As we shared earlier this year, Dill lacerated his fetlock pretty nicely when he was turned out in January. It’s been a crazy uphill battle with the healing process. When his trainer, Samyi, thought it was healed and Dill was ready to work, it bust open again. Then they really thought the start of August was it. But unfortunately again they started their training adventure, and it re-busted. After conversations with his vet, he was placed on 12 hours stall and 12 hours small paddock turnout with no riding for 4–5 weeks. This has left Dill and Samyi with hardly…

What attracted you to the horse racing industry? It seems like there was never a time in my life that I wasn’t interested in horse racing. Most of my earliest childhood memories are of spending time at the racetrack with my family watching the horses. My dad worked as a groom at Philadelphia Park for over 30 years and would regularly bring my sister and me on the backside most weekends and afternoons after school to watch the races and help out at the barn. Kind Of A Big Dill is continuing to thrive as he steadily makes his way through training after his stall rest. He has started riding at the walk! Additionally, as long as there is no rain, he has been moved to a bigger pasture for 12 hours of turn out a day. He has also moved onto a pattern. He will either be doing comprise trails or ranch work in the makeover alongside our barrels! He is moving incredibly well without any bandages as he is healed nearly 100%. Kind Of A Big Dill is officially back in action! After some much deserved rest and recovery time he is back in the saddle. KOABD may be a little behind, but he is well on his way to becoming a master barrel racer. He is trotting the horsemanship pattern and beginning to tackle the barrels at a small trot. What attracted you to the horse racing industry? My first memory of my love for Horse Racing was watching Secretariat win the Triple Crown in 1973. I didn’t get hooked on racing until 1978 when Affirmed and jockey, Steve Cauthen won the Triple Crown. I was a teenager who fell in love with Affirmed and I had a mad crush on Steve Cauthen too. What attracted you to the horse racing industry? I was attracted to horse racing at an early age when I started going to the track with my grandfather. As I grew older, the excitement of race day grew stronger. What aspect of horse racing do you enjoy the most? For several years now, I have followed the prep races leading up to the Kentucky Derby. What attracted you to the horse racing industry? Jim bought a horse in 2014 for barrel racing. Friends who went with him to check out the horse noticed it had raced a few times, never doing better than 5th, but had good breeding with Mr. Jess Perry being the sire’s sire.
